About Us
We found a gap in the Otago barbering scene and decided to do something about it. Since June 2016, we’ve been setting out to create new experiences. We created something that was a little bit different, a little bit fancy, but unashamedly Dunedin.
Staying true to our heritage, it was only fitting to call our place Schaartje (Pronounced: Skaart-Yeh) meaning clippers in Dutch.
After a long time searching for the perfect location to open a barbershop, we stumbled across the Standard Building, Beautifully restored by Ted Daniels and Wayne Marsh this building has set the scene for our extraordinary experience.
Sourcing the most premium product suppliers to match our services was of paramount importance, we wanted to stay local and cruelty free. Naturally, New Zealand based Micky Day products offer exactly that.
For your hair growth needs (should you have any), we’ve chosen Australian based New Zealander owned company HINU, meaning oil in Māori, are dedicated to creating slow and intentional remedies. Each product has been designed to make the daily hair routine a ritual, to celebrate the longevity of healthier hair.
Your time is important to us, so we run on an appointment system. It's easy to use, and you can change your appointments online from wherever you are.
